Queens College
World Dance
Robin Osborne has a twenty five year history of teaching folk dance for the City University of New York. Her interest in folk/world dance began during her undergraduate studies at the University of California at Los Angeles. She performed as a Balinese dancer with the Ethnomusicology Department.
Her interest in ethnic dance led her to the study of the dances of the Hopi Indians. She traveled to the north Oraibi, Arizona to study and notate the traditional Butterfly dances. Although her training was focused on concert dance (modern and ballet,) she later became the folk dance instructor at Queens College where she has developed a comprehensive curriculum and repertoire of dances from Western and Eastern Europe, Africa and North and South America.
